As a kidney transplant recipient, I received a living donor transplant from a very special heroic cousin in 2002. I wished I could have found something like this set to express gratitude to my donor for her Gift of Life while celebrating our journey together. It is said that the best ideas come from personal experience and need. I’m very pleased to be able to bring my experience to others by way of the simple and beautiful shape of a kidney. My kidney jewelry makes meaningful gifts of gratitude to the special Heroes in our lives, or as gentle reminders of what the Gift of Life means to you.

This pendant gift set includes two 1″ long pendants shaped like kidneys that each form half of a butterfly, symbolizing transformation. The half with a kidney “removed,” is for a living donor/or a donor family member. The other half, with an “addition” of a kidney, is for the recipient. I envision this set being presented as a gift which is opened together, although that is not always possible. The backsides are flat, so could be engraved, if desired. PLEASE NOTE: I do NOT offer engraving services. That needs to be done by your local jeweler. Some do hand engraving, but most do it by machine now. I recommend calling around for prices. They may need to see the piece first, Ask them what fonts they would recommend for your message and allotted space.

I designed these pieces and have them cast in sterling silver by a silversmith studio. The process to create these began with many simple concept drawings, then a final scale drawing, on to carving wax models, casting with molten sterling silver using the ancient lost wax method, and a variety of final finishing details. The process took 5 months of design and re-design with many phone calls & emails to get the details just right. I couldn’t be more pleased with the finished pieces! Store in the airtight zip bags provided to prevent the sterling from tarnishing.

Shipping within Illinois will include 10% sales tax.

This set will be presented in a single gift box carded together for the “butterfly effect.” Each pendant has an 18″ sterling chain and its own kidney colored drawstring bag. If you prefer a different length or would like different lengths for each pendant, please contact me. If I have it in stock, I’ll be happy to substitute for you. I usually have 16″ and 18″ and sometimes 20″ or longer (contact me before ordering chain orders over 20.”).  If unsure. I can say that the majority of orders I receive on all pendants is 18 for women, 20″ for men. If you prefer one key ring and one pendant, or 2 keyrings,  I have this same set listed with those variations.

Priority shipping is recommended for this item. It will be shipped in a protective box, arrives within 2-3 days within the US  and includes $100 in free insurance.
First Class is shipped in a bubble envelope and can take between 3-10 days to arrive in the US,  longer for international orders or during holiday season. There is no insurance included.

International orders available for the site shopping cart are for standard (slower/less expensive). If your country is not listed on the drop down menu, please contact me with your postal code, your order and a message as to whether you prefer First Class shipping (slower) or Priority International (Faster) I’ll let you know the shipping costs for your country and if you want to place the order, I’ll send you an invoice via Paypal for your credit card payment, so be sure to include your email address too. You do NOT need a paypal account to pay a business invoice with a credit card.

Please note that your country may hold an item in customs for a customs tax. This does not happen to every order that ships, so I don’t know whether your order will be taxed or not. These taxes are out of my control. They are levied by your customs department. You may want to check with them to see if you can find out ahead of time what the tax might be. From what I hear, they vary quite a bit so I don’t have any idea of how it is determined or the same item sent to one country is taxed one time but not another.
