20% Sale! Antique, Small, Victorian Sash Pendant/Pin-Kidney- Unusual Kidney Transplant Gift

This small Victorian etched, gold filled or gold plated pin, looks like it was originally only a horizontal hanging pendant, but someone added a pin clutch at some point so it can also be used as a vertical pin. Lo and behold, it looked like a kidney shape to me. The addition of the clasp has some darkening at the joints, probably from the solder used. The front side as bit of wear which is apparent in the enlarged photo, but not very noticeable in the hand. I do a lot of antiquing and purchase antique “kidneys” when I occasionally find them. This one is particularly nice in that the etching is well done, the shape is beautiful and the kidney spirals around itself. One of my favorite symbols is a spiral. To me, it represents the continuity of life, which perfectly symbolizes the meaning behind transplants.
