(Sold Out) Vintage Large Silver Kidney Bean Necklace

Although the vintage kidney beans are sold out, I attend a lot of estate sales and vintage markets and have found these, often with different chain from time to time. If you are interested in being notified the next time I locate one, please let me know.

 This is a vintage, pre-owned necklace found at an antique market, probably between 35-50 years old. The chain is marked 925, but the kidney is not signed or hallmarked, which is not unusual in a piece where stamping would be a distraction on the smooth, polished, surface design.  The kidney looks, feels and polished up like sterling silver, so I’m 99.9% sure it is. These are very well made and in great condition with only a few faint surface marks, perfectly acceptable for their age. Surface scratches can easily be polished out, but I personally think the surface looks fine just as is. The organic shape of the bean measures 28mm x 8mm x 50mm (about 2″ long) and feels smooth and is comforting to hold. It would be a great gift for someone about to have a transplant.

I’ve seen similar looking kidney beans this same size which are designed to open like lockets and filled with solid creme perfume by the Halston Company, but this is solid metal, not hinged to open. The chain is a sterling box chain with springring clasp and 18.5″ long (shown). The other is a smooth sterling snake chain which looks original to the piece, but I can’t know that for certain.
