Kidney and Heart Sterling Silver Slide Necklace-TINY Kidney Bean Ends-Transplant Gift, New Mother Gift

As a kidney transplant recipient, I’ve spent time contemplating the dearest gift in my life and what it means to give and receive the Gift of Life. I’ve found myself adding jewelry to my shop that has a heart as well as kidney bean charms/symbols. The bean itself is such a beautifully uncomplicated, organic shape and represents wonderful aspirations about the essence of life in bloom. The bean is a legendary symbol of nurturing growth, hope and new beginnings, so this necklace would also be an excellent gift for new mothers, new relationships or newfound health, as in a transplant. The beauty of the bean shape and the legendary symbolism behind the bean never escapes me.

This delicate and minimally designed piece is a slide necklace, similar in appearance to a lariat. It is all sterling silver with a central heart slide that has silicone inside to keep the chain exactly where you want it. Wear this so the kidney bean ends are beside one another or wear it so the beans are at varying heights, which looks great and also keeps them from rubbing against each other to avoid scratches. The necklace without kidney beans is 24″ long. The end kidneys add to that length.

The necklace is being offered using two different sized sterling kidney beans. This listing is for the smallest  size which is 5/8″ long, just over an inch of length to the necklace. The heart slide is 7/16″ x 5/16″ wide, or 12mm x 11mm…why doesn’t the US use metric again? It’s so much simpler! Jewelry and beads are always measured in metrics, and much quicker to compute measurements. I don’t have a clue how to picture 7/16,” do you? Well, I’m off the subject here…

The  same necklace with the  larger beans are in a separate listing. They are 15mm or 3/4″ long which means they add just over an 1.5″ to the length, or 25.5″ total. The heart could be engraved but, PLEASE NOTE: I do NOT offer engraving services. That needs to be done by your local jeweler. Some do hand engraving, but most do it by machine now. I recommend calling around for prices. They may need to see the piece first, Ask them what fonts they would recommend for your message and allotted space. 

These are delicate when worn, with a clean, simple design that manages to tell an important story about love and gratitude for both kidney recipients, living kidney donors, but please don’t feel blocked into my reason for creating these pieces. This piece can be a gift for so many other reasons.

Comes in a hinged hard case box, but it’s best to also keep it inside the little zip bag that comes with it which will keep it airtight so it won’t tarnish.
