I make kidney transplant gifts, although these new heart/kidney pieces can easily be used for any anniversary, birthday or special day to remember. If you are not looking specifically for my Golden Kidney Series, I can often put a different charm inside to float on top of the glass seed beads. The “bean” though is an ancient symbol of bounty, growth and new beginnings, which gives these pendants a wonderful symbol of life within the heart, perfect for transplants. These are a new variation for my floating pendant/lockets. They’ve been popular gifts in my website shops and if you’re not sure if someone prefers contemporary design or more traditional, these are a great idea. I often sell my glass/metal pendants in twos, one for the recipient and one for the donor. They are simple, clean designs filled with symbolism and meaning, while offering subtle reminders to think of all the golden opportunities in your life today and in the future.

Each heart has 2 different sides. One side is contemporary, smooth and shiny metal but turn it over and you change the entire look to a more vintage, traditional, scroll pattern design on the other side. The 2 pendants shown in the photos are showing both sides of one pendant. Convertible, fun yet meaningful jewelry! The cases are imported, the golden kidney speaks to kidney transplant recipients, living kidney donors, family/friend supporters or as a to gift to anyone who brings their energy and human gifts into your life.

There is really no gift that can adequately thank someone for the gift of a kidney! As a living donor kidney recipient from 2002-2023, I’m on a mission to create meaningful items that are often given as gifts of gratitude for the extraordinary Gift of Life kidney. I love celebrating our special donors and donor families. My pieces are inspired by my own living donor who gave a part of herself to me without hesitation. After a decade of dialysis, her gift of life brought so many golden opportunities my way, including the business of designing/making kidney jewelry. This pendant provides a simple, golden kidney inside which is meant to always be a reminder of what’s ahead if you have the opportunity to grab life and chase your dreams.

The kidney beads inside are USA made of gold plated pewter. The imported cases are made of steel and glass and measure 1.25″ x 1.25.”  They hinge open and come with a slim snake chain.

I don’t recommend opening the cases because static electricity can make the tiny glass beads fly and scatter. Most people do end up opening them to see inside, but if you do, take care to carefully put the beads back inside the case and consider using some glue made for metals on the inner rim but NOT over the magnets. Instructions are included for the curious among us!
