This pendant is requested frequently as it is also half of my Golden Donor Recipient Gift Set. Although designed as a recipient pendant in the set due to the raised gold area being “added” to the body of the pendant, some customers have wanted 2 of them, as matching pendants for donor and recipient. I was only able to have a few available recently, so if interested, I don’t expect them to be here long. This is also a pendant that has been purchased as gifts for men.
Half of my stock is on this website and half in my Etsy Shop (link at bottom of page, US shipping only). They are usually sold only in a set with a sterling donor pendant but I had a few extras made since I’ve had several requests for them outside of the set. I designed the sterling pendants in my shop and have them cast and finished to my exact specifications by a silversmith studio. Be sure to see dimensions. Photos are often enlarged so you can better see the golden kidney detail.
This pendant is sterling silver with 2 micron thick 18k gold plating on the raised kidney area. I call it the Golden Kidney because that is what receiving the Gift of Life felt like to me. As an individual pendant, it could also easily be a pendant for a living donor, because it symbolizes the golden kidney given to another in a transplant. The back is flat so can be engraved by your own local jeweler. Sorry, I do not offer engraving services.
When not being worn, this pendant should stay in the provided air tight bag in order to deter tarnish. Sterling will tarnish after awhile when exposed to the air and tarnish tends to migrate upwards, but if it reaches the gold, it could turn it a dark grey and cannot be polished away without polishing off the gold. The simple solution is to always keep it stored in the small zip bag provided with the anti tarnish tab. This will keep it tarnish free. It arrives with a kidney colored drawstring bag in a gift box.
Pendant is just over 1″ long, including bail. Be sure to leave a message on your order as to which length chain you prefer. I have 16, 18 or 20″ sterling chains. 16″ is for smaller necks, 18″ is the length that sells most often. 20″ is mostly ordered for men or taller/ larger women. I may have 22″ in stock, but it has a higher cost. I’ll have to check stock level. If you do not specify the desired length, I will send 18″ chains.

One set contains this identical pendant except it is all sterling silver (no gold) and the donor pendant is sterling silver and is designed for a living kidney donor or donor family member.It has a kidney shape “removed” from the kidney body of the pendant.
